Yay fireworks! We’re closed for the 4th!

In observance of the 232nd anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence (ie. July 4th), Grand will be closed.

We’ll reopen first thing on Saturday in celebration of the 232nd anniversary of the day after July 4th  1776, July 5th  1776. One would assume that something was going on the day after the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Right?

And we can’t think of a better time than this weekend to come check out Grand. Here are just a few reasons…

Reason #1
The price of gas is insane-o in the membrane-o. Why fill up your tank and go away when you live in the city that defines the July 4th season?

Check this out. This is the price of gas over the past year. Yikes! Stay here and walk, bike, or take public transportation to Grand. Your planet will thank you.

Gas

Reason #2
We have sooooo much new stuff for you to check out, from Loyalty & Blood clothing to these super cool eco-friendly candles from Paddywax that smell AMAZING. A to the MAZING! These are just two examples of the many new things coming in daily.

Reason #3
The weather this holiday weekend is supposed to be pretty great. Going back to Reason #1, it’s gonna be perfect for strolling about our fair city. Come to Union Sq and see everything new.

Grand Sidewalk Sale this Saturday, June 28th!

In celebration of the warm breezes we’re having our 1st ever Sidewalk Sale on Saturday, June 28th from 10AM – whenever we get sunburned.

Sidewalk Sale

We can’t tell you exactly what you’ll find, but you will find something! And ice-cold beverages for adults and kiddies will be offered to quench your thirst.

We should also mention that any given Saturday during the summer you can enjoy the Union Sq. Farmers Market! It’s pretty great! And this Saturday in Union Sq. is the Boston Handmade Marketplace from 3PM-7PM. How many more reasons do you need to come to Union Sq. this weekend?

Come one. Come all.

It’s summer. So capture the sun!

Have you ever wondered the following questions:

1. What’s our #1 selling product?

2.  What’s the perfect gift that combines coolness with practicality and is good for the planet?

Well, the answer to both of those questions is the SunJar!

SunJar

For those of you not in “the know,” the SunJar by designer Tobias Wong is made with a traditional Mason jar and high tech energy efficient lighting! Captured inside the jar are a highly efficient solar cell, rechargeable battery, and low energy LED lamps. When the jar is placed in sunlight, the solar cell creates an electrical current that charges the battery over a few hours. This energy is then used at night to power the three LED lamps inside the jar. The light is diffused by the frosted jar and gives the appearance of sunlight emitting from within (warm colored LED lights are used to give a more natural glow). All of this, and you didn’t add an ounce of pollution to the planet.

Another cool aspect of the SunJar is that it’s completely water-tight so it can be used outside as well as inside.

These things are flying off the shelves, but we just received a new shipment, so c’mon down to Union Sq to stock up.

Join us for a fun night!

As you may (or may not) know, I was involved in helping to start an amazing company called BzzAgent. What’s BzzAgent? Long story short, BzzAgent is a 400,000 person strong network of WOM (word of mouth) volunteers focused on experiencing new products and services and sharing their honest opinions. Check it out if you have the chance!

Well, we at Grand are happy to announce that we will be the hosting the official book launch party for CEO of BzzAgent Dave Balter’s brand new book, The Word of Mouth Manual: Volume II, on the evening of Thursday, June 12th. You will have the opportunity to meet Dave, purchase the book, and enjoy some wonderful beverages and delicious food. Oh and artist Seth Minkin will be producing his very own original doodles just for this night!

To attend, simply go to http://www.bzzagent.com/go/launch/ and RSVP.
